South Velebit

The photo below is not Plitvice, this is something way better.

We centre this tour at the intersection of National Park Paklenica, Lika county and the Dalmatian hinterland. Locally, the area is known as the “south Velebit”. It’s rich with rivers, tributaries and streams. There’s plenty of sweet water and an excellent place for rafting, kayaking and exploring different corners of the Croatian outback. Nature is beautiful, rough and tough, and the mentality of people is like the nature in which it originated.

It’s an area torn by the war of the 90s. You will see a life closer to the roots and how many people live in Croatia: in accordance with the possibilities. You will see wealth in natural resources, authenticity and hospitality of local people. Croatian tourism and its marketing are centred on coastal regions where mass tourism flourishes. The outback is a different story. It’s calmer and more authentic. This tour is for you if you want to experience authentic Croatia and get along with the locals.

On my travels in this part of Croatia, I discovered a wealth of authenticity and natural wonders to which I am happy to return. South Velebit is one of the best tours you can do in Croatia and is ideal for spring, autumn and winter. July and August are too hot – but if you want to do the tour during the peak season, we will accommodate your request.

The tour includes easy to moderate activities including trail hiking, kayaking, visiting the city of Zadar, exploring the Paklenica region, swimming in the sea and the river Zrmanja and its tributaries, visiting historical antiquities and some other beautiful places you will discover when you come here. Get in touch with us and let’s do a proper vacation!
