I will pick you up in front of your accommodation. We start the trail from Medveja Beach. I determine the departure time in agreement with the clients. In principle, the earlier we start, the better because the morning hours are often the most beautiful, as well as those final hours before sundown.
During the summer, it is often very hot during the day, so that is another reason why it is good to start as early as possible. We can start later in the winter, early spring and late autumn to catch the early evening hours and the sunset, as the days are shorter.
The initial part of the hike is a steady climb along a well-marked path that takes you through the forested area. As you climb higher, the terrain becomes rockier and steeper.
The ascent can be challenging, but it is also rewarding, as you will be able to enjoy breathtaking views of the Adriatic Sea and the surrounding islands.
The final stretch of the hike is the most challenging, as you will need to navigate a steep and rocky path that leads to the summit of Vojak, the highest peak in the Učka Mountain range, standing at 1,401 meters.
Once you reach the top, you will be rewarded with panoramic views of the Istrian peninsula, Kvarner Bay, and the nearby islands. During the clearest days, one can see the Venice and Julian Alps from the summit of Učka.
It is recommended to wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring plenty of water and snacks, as there are no facilities along the trail. Starting early in the morning is also advisable to avoid the midday heat.
Just below the summit is a small road, where a transport vehicle will wait for us to get you back to your accommodation. I will be your driver, so I can take you to the beach before you return to your accommodation, and I can also take you to one of the local taverns offering good food.
After such a hike, covering 1400 meters of elevation in one day, not only is it quite an achievement, but people usually want to sit down and have a beer and a proper meal.
